Closing up the Home

Its getting closer to the time when a lot of seasonal residents head back to the North for the summer months. You may find that there are many things to consider before leaving your home unattended for such a long period of time. If you have a Home Watch Service coming in to check your house, you wont have to worry about forgetting something. Admiral Home Watch Services is available to stop by on one of our regular visits or, make a special trip out to shut off the water, turn a ceiling fan off, or the hot water heater. Leaving the water on, could result in a major problem if there was a leak in the home. Leaving the hot water heater on, could result in a burned out heating element. The ceiling fan left on, can cost up to $12 per month in excess electric bills, one more good reason to have someone checking on your home regularly!
Before leaving Florida, this spring, there is something else to consider checking. Many Florida homes have sprinkler systems. Many residents leave the system on for watering their grass or expensive plants while they are away. The irrigation pressure tank will sometimes rust out and cause a major leak in the yard. Its a good idea to take a quick look at the pressure tank before you leave. If you see a lot of rust on the exterior and bottom of the tank, chances are, this tank will spring a leak before you get back. Every time your sprinkler system is scheduled to go on, Water will run out of the tank, flooding your yard.
